Everybody in this world is unique in his or her own way which provides the work place with infinite diversity . However ,difference varies in terms of their importance thus having some differences being more important than the others depending on the impact they make on the individual as far as opportunities are concerned in the world . Dimensions of diversity are divided into two groups , primary dimensions includes , gender , age , ethnicity , physical abilities , race and colour while the secondary dimensions includes , income , marital status , work experience , parental status , political affiliations ,geographic location and religious beliefs . The main reason why organizations incorporates diversity is to beat competition and to improve production . Companies do not strive to incorporate diversity programs just because it is the legal , social or the “in ‘ thing to do .The main reason is to increase and to maintain profits in global and national competition . Diversity initiatives impetus should come from business implication awareness which includes satisfying the demand of competitiveness , fulfilling the requirements of role of the company and taking care of the needs of the workers . Many organizations accepts any change related to diversity if only the potential benefits are worthwhile and clear .
