The Concentration of Suspended Solids in Lake Water The water Quality Corporation WQR has been asked to measure the concentration (mg /l ) of suspended solids in water from a particular lake . Therefore , they have randomly chosen 60 sites at the lake and obtained measurements (Table 1 . It is important for the concentration for the lake to be less than 60 mg /l . This report will analyze the measurements and will give implications based on it .The average concentration of suspended solids in lake water is about 59 .9 mg /l (SD 12 .5 mg /l . About half of the sites have concentration of suspended solids in lake water above 59 .5 mg /l . The most common value of the concentration of suspended solids in lake water is 42 .4 mg /l . The range of the concentration of suspended solids in lake water is 60 mg /l with minimum of 29 .8 mg /l and maximum of 89 .8 mg /l . Since , the mean and median value are approximately equal that suggests that the distribution of concentration of suspended solids in lake water is approximately normal that is also confirmed by the skewness coefficient of -0 .12 .Figure 1 : Stemplot of the concentration of suspended solids in a certain lake Figure 1 shows the stem-and-leaf plot of the concentration of suspended solids in lake water . The stem-and-leaf plot suggests normal distribution . Most of the data values are in between 40 to 80 mg /l .However , from stem-and-leaf plot it is evident…
