Teaching Science to Elementary Students In doing this project , the goals should be set first . This is because the determination of the goals would serve as the guidelines as to what should be accomplished by doing the project . It must be carefully thought of and must include all of the ideas that must be accomplished after conducting the steps of the project . Should the goals set not be complete , a haphazardly settled on goals may lack a few of the needed information and might lead to redoing the whole project . After deciding on the objectives that should be followed in doing the project , the formulation of the problem , which is the first step in the scientific method , is the next hurdle to be confronted . For example , using the article “Risk cluster linked to obesity , at the end of the day , the project should be able to determine the causes of obesity , the different risks attributed to obesity , how obesity will be prevented and how it can be solved . To be able to start formally with the project , a problem should be stated . The formulation of the objectives would only serve as the guiding principle or the course of action that should be undertaken in making the project , but the formulation of the problem would be the foundation of the project (Otto Towle , 1985 . The problem must also be very well thought of and could be solved by scientific testing . It could also be extracted from other studies that have been conducted and can also be a derivation from another problem that has been studied . In this way , the past studies may have very pertinent information which may be useful to the project at hand . Nevertheless , an original problem could still be created , thus , providing new facts and figures for use . For instance , using the same article , “What are the food types that can cause obesity , “What are the diseases that can be caused by obesity ‘ or “What are the preventive measures to obesity . After the devising the problem , gathering of data must be done because a hypothesis should not be drawn out of the blue , it should have a basis , to be true to its nature , an educated guess (Otto Towle , 1985 .The data that would be collected may come from other studies since the other studies also may have undergone the process of the scientific method . Also , in this manner , the solution to the problems may be discovered and all of the critical information that may be of use . Also ,gathering of the information may be the catalyst in attaining the goals that were set . However , the data that would be used should be credible ,logical , has a basis and is true because if the information is not reliable enough , then the conclusions that have been drawn may be false which eventually will make the project that is being made also false .Libraries , research centers and other sources of credible information may be very useful in this phase of…
