Summary and Reflection of Certain Writings by Augustine In this paper I am going to demonstrate my perception of some writings by Augustine of Hippo in the light of introduction provided by Peter Gorday . I am shall speak of Augustine ‘s life and then turn to Augustine ‘s commentaries on the Bible . Concluding the paper I will summarize my own ideas of Augustine ‘s concepts .Augustine of Hippo is one of the most famous and worshiped Christian theologians who has been canonized by the Roman Catholic Church as saint . He lived in Byzantium in the late IV century AD , and so his writings have been strongly influenced by the ideas of early Christianity as well as by the idea of supreme imperial power inherited by Byzantium from Rome . On the other hand , Augustine used methods of classical Greek philosophy and rhetoric , representing Neo-Platonist philosophic school .
